My name is Mrs. Ann Cervone and I am the Stem Coordinator here at Christ the Teacher Academy. I have been teaching here for 25 years. 18 years with Prek 3 and 7 years with Stem Lab. I graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1982 with a BS degree in Medical Technology. After my daughter entered PreK in my town I began my teacher journey through the Alternate Route Program. I received my Elementary School Certification for New Jersey.
In 2018 I received the Star Stem Teacher Award from Channel 4 and Telemondo and I also received the Bergen County Audubon society Dick Engsberg Teacher Appreciation Award. I became a Certified Educator with National Geographic and also became STEM certified. Three years ago I won a grant for Creativity and Art Inspiration from Scholastic. Two years is a row our school has won The LuxLife Award for the Best in Stem Education and I am ever so proud of this achievement.
I am very involved with our school community , participating in fundraisers, running a bowling club , a Robotics club plus a virtual Space Club. Years back I co ran The Little Einstein Science club with Mrs Evangelou. I am also the Coordinator for Trout in the Classroom program plus Project Engin involving grades 5th thru 8th grade. I participate in various grade contests such as the Lexus Eco Challenge and Scholastic . I am the Advisor for the Ecology club with hands-on activities including care of a greenhouse, composting and growing vegetables. I love teaching at Christ the Teacher Academy . My goal for the students is to expose them to all aspects of the Science world so that they can flourish when they enter high school.
